Iconic Female Characters: Princess Leia

So one year ago today, the short essay I wrote over one of my favorite characters was released. Unfortunately, the page was deleted. Luckily, I was able to track down my original essay and so here it is in memory of Carrie Fisher, I wish she could have read it: W hen I was younger, I wanted to be a princess. Unlike other wannabe princesses, I despised the idea of being a damsel in distress that had to be rescued. When I watched Star Wars: A New Hope for the very first time, I fell in love with the character that is Princess Leia Organa.  With tight little buns in my hair for months, I saw her as a role model for not only little girls, but for everyone.    Leia was a princess, like her title says, but she was not your average damsel in distress.  She has saved her group on numerous occasions. Old Forgotten Words and Ancient Memories

Lorelei Hemmings stuck at the bottom of a lake Unable to make an appearance to her own wake Her Boyfriend did this, you know He broke her heart and let her go To Drown. To Drown. To Drown. He filled a crate of memories to drag her down Lorelei was unable to be found for 20 years She waded herself out of the water, unable to stop her tears Black blood oozes down her nose She became a Siren, unable to decompose I wrote this little pretty ditty when I wanted to write a short story about how sirens were just girls who were drowned. I actually really loved the character and the plot so think of this as sort of a prologue. If people enjoy this, I'll definitely post more of my work. Until next time Glitter Flakes, ~Kathleen
