So unlike most recipes that people post, I've decided to give the recipe first and then the little background second. Okay? Okay
Ingredients:
1 box Blue Velvet Cake Mix
1/2 container of Whipped Topping
As many Chocolate chips as you like
Directions:
Preheat your oven to about 350 degrees. Mix all of the ingredients together using a paddle. Using a small scoop, scoop up about 1 inch diameter balls of dough and place them on a cookie sheet. Put in the oven for about 15-20 or until the tops and edges are a greenish brownish color. Take out of the oven and then place on a cooling rack after about 10 minutes.
My story on this recipe? I have been searching on the internet since my freshman year of high school for a recipe for Percy Jackson's favorite food: Blue Chocolate Chip Cookies. Originally I had just used a normal chocolate chip cookie recipe and added a TON of blue food coloring. Of course these cookies ended up being a slight green tinge instead and was often turned down by my peers. The next recipe I gasped at how blue the cookies ended up being and the trick was to make eggless cookies! In that recipe you had to place the dough in the fridge for 2 hours and then cut them out with a cookie cutter. I made these cookies in an adorable heart shape and took a bite of it and... it tasted like Play -Doh. I didn't even know someone could screw up cookies that much.
Then my Sister-In-Law gave me a book for recipes using cake mix. I don't know what made me remember my struggle for great looking and tasting blue chocolate chip cookies, but it did who knows. And in this book of wonders I ended up finding a recipe for cake mix cookies using whipped topping and other ingredients. I soon discovered that the other wet ingredients made the cookies too wet and so bam! I just used the whipped topping and added some chocolate chips. Pretty nifty, huh?
I've been a huge fan of the Percy Jackson series since high school and with every new book I fall even more in love. I remember when I first read about the blue food, I instantly became obsessed with blue food. I actually have an entire Pinterest board dedicated to this obsession. For my birthday I usually try to eat as much blue food that I possibly can. Except, I'm not a huge fan of blueberries. If I find a recipe for something blue that tastes like strawberries I will surely post that. In my dorm room I keep a supply of blue food to keep myself from having a breakdown and not being able to get the happiness from blue food.
Anyway, I apologize for not writing lately, college has just been so hectic. I decided to actually write this blog post to avoid attempting to write a short story. Ironic, isn't it?
Until Next Time,
Kathleen
